I visited the United Rentals store just beside Ground Zero, home to many new projects, and I was amazed at the high costs of core drilling equipment. For example, core drill bits ranging between 1" to 6" in diameter sell for 83$ to 309$ respectively. Of course they are selling popular brands like Norton and Target, however the same type of bits can be found online from reliable suppliers for only a fraction of the price. Full 11 piece sets of core drill bits ranging from 1.5" to 5" in diameter complete with centrering pieces and SDS/HEX arbors sell for between 99$ to 120$ in online stores (eg. http://stores.ebay.com/Techservice-Online). An example of such a complete core drill bits set is shown in the image below (Techservice Online, 2008):  I had many customer buy the above set from me and I've only had positive feedback. The tools perform effectively under normal operating conditions and they are as durable as those from popular brand names.
