Anne Francis is in my thoughtsPosted 17-Apr-08 04:09:02 BST Those of you a bit younger than I may not know much about the wonderful and beautiful Anne Francis. She is perhaps best known for her role as the delicious innocent Alta in the 1956 Sci-fi classic "Forbidden Planet" and as TV's Honey West. For my generation she was someone very special. To me, she still is. If you lived in New York in the late 50's and 60's there was a show called Million Dollar Movie. They would run the SAME film seven or eight times in a five day period (probably because it was cheaper!). In any event I recall watching Forbidden Planet seven times in one week when I was 10 years old JUST to see Anne and Leslie Neilson battle the "Monsters from the ID" . In the era of Spy shows on TV in the 60's The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and Honey West was must see TV in my house. I was sure Honey could beat Napolean Solo in a fight too! She was my first crush and I may even still have one for this dear lady. She is heavily involved in many charitable causes and I understand that she gives freely of her time to her friends and family. The world is just a bit warmer for having her in it. The reason I am writing about Ms. Francis tonight is because it has come to my attention that she is battling cancer. We all get older, and so have I. I am no longer that 10 year old boy. I am now in my 50's and comfortable with that. But I somehow never saw Anne as anything but ageless. She is STILL remarkably beautiful. I just ask that any of her fans or friends who see this blog keep her in their minds and hearts with all good wishes and prayers. Anne I know you are going to beat this and be with all of us for many more years to come!
