Most Recent Posts Finding the deals...Posted 05-Feb-08 20:48:08 GMT Updated 05-Feb-08 20:55:47 GMT Finding true wholesale prices on fine jewelry can often seem impossible or unrealistic, the main reason it feels or seems that way because 85% of all jewelers claim they have true wholesale prices available to the public or that they pay TOP CASH for all your fine jewelry and scrap precious metals. You need to dig hard and deep because in this buisness cash definitely rules everything, from the time the diamond is mined, all the way to the retail store. The best way to know you are getting the best deal is pretty simple if you lay it into perspective... Items design is the first- It is a myth that a piece of jewelry's value is based on it's material, although that is one of the determining values it is not theonly thing. The design of a piece of jewelry is just as important if not, more important than anything. There is a chemistry formed as soon as you see a nice piece that catches your eye and you say "wow that is a very nice piece" . When you say that you are not louping the diamonds or testing the gold, you are complimenting the jewelry pieces beautiful design.normally but not always...the pieces design type or the difficulty to make the design is the first step. secondly is the pieces material make up. For example}}} Is the jewelry piece solid or pure precious metal or is it plated with the precious metal like gold, silver, platinum etc. these metals have high per oz values and can make up the materialistic value of your piece, especially if it weighs heavy. Also things like polish job and fineness of the job are a must, like the craftsmanship of piece.Check the piece for imperfections that were not physically caused by normal wear and tear but when the surface of the metal has alot of pores and spotty color imperfections as a result of badly alloyed metal and casting job.A well made pieces is determined by its design, material, and texture. Other things like jewelry with stones is a factor, like checking to see if the stones of any piece of jewelry is man made or natural. Most of the time natural stones take the cake when it comes to high dollar values but on occassion i have ran into some high priced man made stones. It's all in how you look at things, ask your questions when you are not sure to any true jeweler.A decent jeweler will try to help no matter what he gains from the situation financially simply because he should have a passion for the product....I think that is what sets me apart.
