Most Recent Posts Germination Experiment with Miracle Fruit seedsPosted 17-Jul-08 00:38:34 BST I decided to make an experiment with some of my fresh seeds and try to
germinate them inside a small sterilized plastic container with a moist paper
towel as the only substrate. I usually germinate my Clivia seeds this way, and I wanted to try if it worked with Miracle Fruit seeds. After 36 days from the date I planted them, this is how they look like. See picture at: http://www.costaricaphotos.com/v/Nature/plants/miracle_fruit/017.JPG.html?g2_imageViewsIndex=1 Notice the long radical roots. The stems and primary leaves are already showing on some of the seedlings. I am not specifically recommending this germination method, but if you are as curious as I am, you might want to try it and then be able to monitor the germination progress. Germination of Miracle Fruit (Synsepalum dulcificum) seedsPosted 04-Jul-08 22:57:30 BST Updated 04-Jul-08 22:59:17 BST This is my own way of germinating Miracle Fruit seeds after many years of doing it. I accept that there might be other ways of going about it, but this method has turned out to be fairly successful for me. Take it for what it is, my own experience on the subject, but I cannot garantee that your seeds will all or always germinate. If you have any questions, comments, or experiences that will improve this method, please share them here with everybody.
1- Clean seeds - Soak them in water for 1/2 hour and gently clean the
seeds with brush and using very mild soap solution. Rinse seeds with
plenty of clean water. Germination should start after 3-16 weeks. |
