Most Recent Posts RFPlus Goes To UKPosted 21-Jul-08 04:09:29 BST Well folks, it's that time again when I depart these fine shores and head to the Northern hemisphere. This time it's for a longer trip, through to April 2008 and it's unlikely that I'll be listing again on Australian Ebay until then. However I shall certainly be listing in the UK and with low cost postage for small items to Australia (only a couple of dollars) the only difference should be a wait of a week or so. Some of the items will be similar to what I've listed here, others quite different, so please do take a look and be tempted ;-) You can find me by clicking 'advanced search' (next to search button) and selecting 'Find Items by Seller' with RFPlus in the search box. Prices will be in UK pounds (~$2/pound) and listed on the UK site but Paypal does currency conversions automatically and you can still pay directly into my bank account in Australia if that's more convenient (we can negotiate a suitable exchange rate in that case). Many thanks to everyone who has supported me in this venture by buying some bits and I'm always happy to hear from you via email or Ebay messages! Cheers, Jon @ RFPlus The Post OfficePosted 09-Jul-08 19:20:01 BST I just estimated that I spend approximately 44 hours per year standing in the queue at The Post Office. Not any particular post office ... different ones around the world. And even though I prepare absolutely EVERYTHING which can be prepared (customs, stickers, stamps, addresses, weighed) before I go to The Post Office, I still spend more than ONE WORKING WEEK standing in line at The Post Office every year. And that doesn't include being served at The Post Office, just the standing in line bit ... Best Not To Think About It.... PayPal ONLY -- NOT !!Posted 12-Jun-08 09:05:42 BST This afternoon I (along with many others) received notification from the ACCC that they plan to revoke the notification that Ebay made about forcing Paypal ONLY. From what I understand, this means that if Ebay implements this unwelcome change they can (and almost certainly would) be prosecuted under Australian competition law. Over 650 of us put in a bit of time to fight this, and signs are good (though until Ebay responds we won't know the outcome). If anyone wants the full judgements in PDF form, drop me a message and I'll email them. A summary article on APC mag give more detail at ...http://apcmag.com/ebay_fails_in_bid_to_force_users_to_use_paypal.htm So folks, a heartening example of your public institutions and tax dollars at work ... have a great evening all!! RFPlus is going to the UK!Posted 10-Jun-08 19:29:14 BST It's official ... today I booked my flight for 25th July and I'll be over in Blighty until next May, so if there's anything you'd like me to list while I'm still in Oz then now might be a good time to mention it! ;-) As I still need to finance the trip I'm going to be listing as much as I can over the next month, and hope you will help support me with a bid or two. Of course, I can still send bits back to Australia and postage is very reasonable for most parts - just a couple of dollars for an Airmail letter that takes around a week. Still, stock will be limited to what I can carry which means mostly lightweight items like chips & mixers. Any requests?Posted 07-Jun-08 05:47:53 BST As you may have noticed, I've been going through my stuff and making a number of parts available as Buy-It-Now items. This has the advantage for me of being able to list any time, not just in one concerted burst on a Thursday or Saturday night. The disadvantage is that I have to decide on a price upfront rather than letting bidders decide, something I always feel a little uncomfortable doing. So far the response has been great and I appreciate all the interest folks have shown! Having had a trawl through it's hard to know what to list next, so if anyone has suggestions or requests for specific components or types of part they'd like to see I'd be grateful for any input! Anyone? |
