Most Recent Posts Pray for my kitty babies, please!Posted 21-Jul-08 19:24:09 BST Updated 21-Jul-08 19:37:30 BST I hope no one's getting sick of these blog entries about my orphans. My son has found them all a good home and will go to there soon. But they are still in my care and I'm pretty serious about keeping them alive! I was totally wrong about their age...I think they're between 1 and 2 weeks old, and super fragile. Two of them seem weaker than the others and I hope someone besides me will keep these little guys in their prayers for the next few hours. Believe it or not, in spite of kitten visitors and camping, I am still working on my Ebay store... looking for great vintage sewing patterns, counting their pieces and getting them ready to sell. I'm home with the kittens today and will scan, feed, scan some more, feed again...it's great to be home! Here's the baby kitties video, I hope!Posted 21-Jul-08 04:27:33 BST Updated 21-Jul-08 04:30:57 BST Well, now I figured out the video thing, I think. Back from camping but it's late. I wanted to see if I could add my video via YouTube. So far, so good. These pictures are from this past Friday. I went to take new pictures tonight after I fed the babies, but the camera battery was dead. The little black and white one is beginning to open his eyes. So in the morning I'll do a new video. They are so cute, and noisy, but I'm not sure I can add sound with the camera I'm using. Just checked it. It's not perfect but not bad for a newbie YouTuber. Or is that a potato? Feeding KittensPosted 18-Jul-08 18:11:55 BST ![]() Well, I'm heading out of town and don't have any more time to mess with the video I was going to post here. I guess Sunday evening I'll figure out the youtube thing and do it from there. I'll be having kitty videos or pictures daily here to let everyone enjoy their cuteness! And maybe someone will know someone who knows someone in the Portland Oregon area that needs a kitten! Kittens...anybody in the Portland area?Posted 17-Jul-08 20:22:37 BST ![]() It's day two with our foundlings. Sorry about the poor picture. Right now they are one mass-o'-kitty, crawling/scooting around over each other in one moving jumble. I'm afraid that we lost one last night, so now have 4. They are all much stronger today, and starting to get the hang of being fed with an eye-dropper. They're not happy about it, but I hold each one, and when it opens it's mouth, I drip some milk into it. There's no sign of mama at all yet. Last fall when we had another litter of kittens like this, the sound of the kittens mewing brought mama cat around, in spite of herself. Last night they were all crying really loudly. A "feed me" cry, if you know what I mean. You could clearly hear them outside through the open windows. No mama. Anyway, I'll be on kitten duty until tomorrow afternoon, when my oldest son will have to take over for the weekend. We're outta here, for 3 days. So no auctions, no shipping, just breathing the nice fresh ocean air. Sort of a mini-vacation, I guess. Have a great day, everyone! Good Grief! More Kittens!Posted 17-Jul-08 07:11:49 BST ![]() Well, they say that the first step towards recovery is to admit you have a problem. The neighbors have admitted that we have a feral or stray cat problem. A couple of years ago, someone (no, not me) began to feed stray cats, and didn't think to get them fixed. Last year we were literally over-run with cats and kittens, in the garden, garage, driveway. Now I rescued a litter, found one kitten a home and kept three. I have more than I'd planned on, and love them all. My husband is a saint! But today I heard that familiar mewing in the back of the neighbors garage. Did I mind my own business? Hell, no! I had to get inside to look for them. I didn't find them when we looked, but heard them again later. Victor went over and got the neighbor, crawled over boxes, and see what he brought me? FIVE of these! Their eyes aren't open yet, and they are pretty weak. They felt cold to the touch too, so I went out and got one of those gel bags for muscle pain that you heat in the microwave, to put in the box with them. We got some newborn milk replacement formula and fed them all a little bit of it warmed up. So hopefully they'll be ok until morning, and we'll find mama if she is around. I spoke with someone with the feral cat coalition and I'm going to try to trap her with one of the safe cat traps. Wish me luck! |
