I have a gift certificate online now, just hoping that someone will look at it and its great advertising for a small price.

You do not have to put in disclaimers or be a square trade member as you do if you are putting your rooms up for vacation rentals, some do that.

Take a nice pic of your inn, or the room and put it on ebay, great idea.

The time was just a few years ago that nothing was needed except a nice room and a good breakfast with lots of talking, well, that is not the case today, at least here in the Catskills of NY

You have to have a dog and pony act, like:

 make great tea and have tea parties in the afternoon or evenings,

make bonfires in your firepit and talk about the area

Do something new age, like Reiki or oils

Be different in some way, shape of form

Most people in the winter wish to just ski and hibernate, so that apres ski party I had after skiing went out the window years ago, plus people are into health foods so if you do do that, just maybe some strawberries with a chocolate fountain, some smoothies, raw veggies, green tea etc.

So, if you are thinking of opening a bed and breakfast, you must have your dog and pony act together!

I have learned many things by owning and operating my bed and breakfast over the past 8 years.  One of the biggest tools beyond your own website is having an ebay store and giving out gift certificates.  I am in the process of writing an ebook about this business, there are I believe only two ebooks for sale on this subject on ebay.  I will blog as much as time allows me on this wonderful venue of gift certificates, vacation rentals, how to have a vintage shop in your inn and also how to put up items for sale beyond the ones that are available in my physical store.
