| Most Recent Posts My latest trip to vets by ToyahPosted 16-Aug-08 13:44:00 BST Well mum and dad took me to the vets today, I have been limping on and off on one of my back paws for about a week. I had to wait as there was a cat in a PINK pet carrier that was first! I wasn't allowed to play with her! Not impressed!! Anyway I went to vet and he poked and prod ed me, trying to hurt me I think??? He checked my hips as that's a common problem with my breed (German Shepherd ) His opinion was I have hurt a toe!! He gave me an injection and sent me home with some medicine to add to my food, hope it tastes like gravy!!! Short walks on lead for a week on flat ground! Guess that rules out a lot of rabbit chasing and running around the field for me!!! Not much of a dogs life eh!! Mum had to pay £59 so maybe she wont be so keen to take me back to vets again!!! TOYAHS TALE She had been straying in the Cookstown area for a couple of weeks, a man took her in and looked after her for a couple of days then handed her into the Pound. Amber was being brought in to be destroyed as no one had reported her missing during those 2 weeks. One of the assis supporters helps with Assisi's "Chance of a Lifetime" by calling at the Cookstown Pound and rescuing dogs that are due to by destroyed. http://www.assisi.dnet.co.uk
She asked for the GS and the Dog Warden was happy to hand her over to their care. She was in very poor condition extremely thin and was put on a special diet to build her up, once she had gained some weight, they got her vaccinated, vet checked and she was pronounced fit to travel, they took her across to Kenilworth Dogs Trust.http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/
At Kenilworth Amber was neutered, she was ill for a while so was put on a special diet, but soon became well enough to be rehomed.
Amber was renamed Toyah by us and is slowly putting on weight and has become a much loved member of our family, she is believed to be approx three years old. |
