Welcome to my site. I hope you are enjoying the fall season that is upon us.It seems as if summer has flown by & fall is well on its way.With fall comes the many local social events, Octoberfests, scarecrow festivals, art & garden shows and quilt shows.

 I am  fortunate to have been invited to some of these events & look forward to enjoying them with friends. I received an special invitation to a quilt retreat. I am eager to use that event to catch up on summers happenings with my friend and to share knowledge. I know I  will come away refreshed and with new knowledge of the wonderful world of quilts.

 These beautiful fall days & cooler nights have set me to thinking. Thinking about how many places it is already cool, temperatures that call for a quilt. I decided it was time to start gearing up to offer you all many of the beautiful, original, authentic, handmade quilts I have found on my summer treasure hunts. I love to find the quilts & hopefully something about their history. I enjoy photographing these old treasures, hopefully my photos will become a book one day in the future. Since I can't keep all  I find I offer many on Ebay to share with fellow quilt lovers! My hope is they will go to someone who appreciates the wonderful art as much as I do. Please take a look at what I offer. You can be assured they are the Real Thing!

I've been listing quilts this AM and thinking of all the talent went into the art of quilting.I have to admit I wish I had some of that talent! Or just maybe lived back in the day when ladies had time for such creativity! I so much admire the art.

I've had a few teachers buy some items and I am always grateful these old pieces go to where they can be admired by more than one person.

1753 Mystery ~ My laugh for the day ~ I just listed a great study piece. I found this with a note that read ~ A block of a friendship quilt given to David & Janice Rankin father & mother D.K. Rankin Domauce Ks. Made in 1753. Upon inspection I found a 4 block quilt top with the most beautiful applique I had ever seen.Such well perserved turkey red, great old green print,such tiny stitches! But wondered how this top had survived in such great shape for 254 years? When I really looked at it I discovered a name & date siged on 1 block the best I could make of the tiny handwritten piece was Hester A.E. Bubsby August 6# 1753.This date 254 years ago brought many fantasies to mind. When I turned it over I found another block had a tiny piece of paper basted in the center of the block. It read: Sarah Game Smith Sept the 20 When this you see pray think of me 1853!Mystery Solved! It was 1853, well that was only 154 years ago! But still not bad for a find in wonderful condition.It just goes to show how misinformation can be handed down by families who think they have it right! Take a look at the pictures.
