Credit Crunch Affecting Ebay Sales?

I think its affecting everyones sales , both here in america and overseas ..my international sales have slowed considerably..not as many small item sales, just larger item (collectors or business mostly) sales..

Yes Mark I'm pretty sure its an international issue....Theres always a knock on effect in these things. I suppose if America stays strong then so does the rest of the world. I don't know the general feeling of Americans but I hope Hilary wins! We need prosperous Times!

yes, UK sales have slowed down. As a seller of antiques, collectable and vintage items I am finding it tricky to purchase profitable items from local auction houses. I now need to research more to make a profit, often using Ebay tools. There is however an emerging market to purchase, bargains can be had on Ebay and re-sell in Auction houses to dealers who operate from premises and have a client list. Weather the storm dealers!

My sales have come to a total holt cant sell a thing.I sell kids jeans and such like.I cant understand what is happening.I did expect it to slow down but not this much.Has any one a clue what i can do to increas my sales.kind regards Adrian

Things are pretty slow for me and I sell used clothes. Just gotta grit ya teeth and weather the storm. If you come out the otherside it one piece, then you know happy days are on their way!!!

Might be time to get away from the sinking ship ebay!!!!!

ebay & Paypal's continued support of blatantly obvious fraudulent 'buyers' got me looking at other options, and having worked on a project for many months it won't be long before i hang up my ebay boots for good. There is a life outside of ebay, you just got to explore other avenues.

By the time ebay realise it's the sellers they need to protect rather than dodgy buyers, it'll be too late. Already sellers are leaving in their droves. May ebay & paypal sink in the poo of their own making.

I think if people can't afford new stuff then Ebay may be the place they look for good second hand equivalents. I do it and i can't be alone. Where else could you buy a pair of Russell and Bromley boots for under 30 quid!

Ebay is no more a sinking ship than any of the other struggling businesses out there right now.

I suspect it will be the case that people wont bid as much for something if there's less money available to spend. Downworth65 made this point...it's great if you're a buyer but not so good for sellers.

My life doesn't depend on sales from Ebay, so it doesn't bother me, but I guess this is a worry if you make a living from it.

I agree, my ebay sales have u-turned dramatically since Xmas. Also valid points about ebay caring more about buyers than sellers, who after all are their lifeline!
I had a couple of instances recently, one where a customer did not receive an item (Fault of the postal service, not me!)

In that instance they went into my paypal account & refunded the buyer, although the buyer did not take any postal insurance!

In another case a buyer did not pay for an item, all you can do then is take it to dispute & let it run it's course & get a final value fee returned, big deal!!!!
If they can go into a sellers account & give funds to buyers, then it's high time they started going into non paying buyers accounts to credit sellers!!!

Finally the postal price capping rules are garbage, yes we know why they have done it, too prevent sellers from covering all their fees at the buyers expense & rightly so, but not when an item genuinely costs you more to mail than they will allow.

I recently sold some books, ebay said £2.75 was the maxium allowed but I wanted to send these recorded to protect myself, it cost me in the region of £9.50 per book as they were heavy, ebay makes no allowance for this.

In better times you got enough for an item to stand the excess mail, now you don't make enough on the auction items to allow soaking the postage.

Ebay really needs to start listening to the concerns of it selling members, otherwise it's Amazon & back to markets & car boots! and that's coming from a Power Seller!

I was begiining to think it was just me, untill I clicked on this link, Xmas and after was okay with only slight dips, but April has died, and the last week has been a disaster, might as well have stayed in bed, have phoned so many other Antique dealers who beleive we have lost it at last !. General commments from some Dutch dealers stalling at a Camera Fair, is that "collecting" is the word that has gone. A Wind of Change across Europe they said. Thousands of us will not survive if it does'nt pick up, dare not buy anything at the moment, and there is a lot of good profitable stock about. Terry Neeves. ( tatraman 1 and cameras-uk )

My Ebay sales have nose dived, sold 2 items in 3 weeks, its the worse its ever been.
