Happy October 1st

Well, it is almost Tax Payment time and time for me to start saving moneys for it.  Lol, I love this time of year.  On a funny note I got a 66 cent refund from the tax board for overpayment.  That was kind of funny.

Pluto, what the?

What gives 400 some odd astromoners the right to unplanet pluto.  There are like 10k people in their little club with the right to vote?

LONG LIVE PLUTO THE PLANET

its a conspiracy to get schools to buy new texts!!

Buying

Read the persons tos you are buying from, that is terms of service.  Know the shipping and all the handling charges before you order.  If you order and then complain, shame on you.  You should know everything up front and if you dont please dont buy from the person.  You will not be regretting your decision later.

Interesting things about selling

Check your postage, dont expect your buyer to pay more after the sale.

Make sure your lowest price is what you are willing to take, do not end an auction because you are not happy.  While this is ok to do it is frowned upon by most people and you will become known for this and people do talk.  Check the boards.

Try to communicate, if not, no sweat, though some newbies might freak out if you dont talk to them.

Not everyone is ebay savy and we all started somewhere, help out.

Dont take abuse from anyone.  If someone is trying to scam you there is much you can do.  We will go over buying scamming in the next lesson.  Be good to people and they will be good to you, just dont let them walk on you!!

Real signed photos and certificates of authenticity

It is impossible to know if a photo you bought with someones signature is authentic unless you have it checked by a professional.  There are services around that can do it for a fee.  When you buy a signature on Ebay you have to check several things.

1.  How many photos does the person have for sale?  If there are hundreds a week then it is most likely a fake.

2.  Where is the person living?  Someone living in a really small city is less likely, though not all the time, to have a real photo of someone then someone living in Los Angeles or New York.  I run into people all the time when I do collectible shows and have them sign things for me.

3.  Does the person sign.  I know of several people that only sign for charity.  If someone has hundreds of photos from these people for sale then you know it is probably fake.

4.  If you think it looks to good to be true, it probably is.

5.  Certificates of Authenticity are worthless.  Remember that.  I can print one on my computer and send it to you saying the photo I have signed is real and really is what I do when I sell one of my signed pics.  When I go to shows I usually have 2 pictures signed, one to keep and one to sell.

6.  Most people at shows signing charge from 10 to 50 dollars to sign a picture so if you see a signed pic for less then 10 dollars in a buy it now you can almost be positively sure it is a fake.

7.  Watch out for preprinted signatures.  Worthless!

Anyways, I hope that helps a little
