I posted a 1930's Gretsch Guitar coupon inseert from a pack of strings to sell it as such. In the background was a 1930's Gretsch guitar peghead, a real one. The title read: ''1930's Gretsch Guitar Coupon & Contest'' -- ''The subtitle read: Identify this guitar and win'' -- Description: ''This is an insert from a 1930's Gretsch Guitar. Winning bidder shall recieve this coupon. The guitar in the background is not for auction however, and ebay member who identifies the model and the exact year shall win a similar coupon. If the winning bidder identifies it the winning bidder shall recieve two coupons.'' EBAY CANCELLED THE LISTING FOR THE FOLLOWING REASON: Item did not exist. This was wrong for a variety of reasons:: 1. The item being auctioned was the prominant and only item in the title. 2. The item shown in the photo was the actual item clearly described as being autioned. 3. A second identical item was offered free to either the winning bidder or a non-bidder, and was in no way a circumvention issue. 4. There was no keyword spam and the presence of the real guitar or mention of it was not a confusing issue. 5. There is no ebay policy which prohibits the actions or the content posted in the auction, yet interpretation and who reports you and how generally is the rule guiding policy. But when does polict stiffle creativity and freedom of speech, or artistic expression?  Should ebay examiners be briefed or specially trained? What happens if an ebay member becomes fed up with listings being taken doen unfairly... can the member file a lawsuit without retribution from ebay, or should they? I started this blog because I know there are other folks out there who love ebay but sometimes HATE their policy interpretation. I think ebay needs to grow up and allow logic and American values rule ebay if ebay is going to be based in the USA or any self-respecting democracy.
