Power Seller status

I've got a shiny new icon next to my name now - I'm now a PowerSeller!

It's only been three months since I sold the first bits of laptop, in which time I've turned the dining room into a laptop graveyard.

I've spent the last few weeks preparing our Mercedes for the trip to Casablanca, and training Helen in the office to send out orders while I'm away.

Business Sense Challenge results

The results of the Business Sense Challenge will be published in the Guardian tomorrow. If you fancy a laugh, there's bound to be a picture of me poking a laptop with a screwdriver in there somewhere.

You'll also be able to read it online at www.guardian.co.uk/sme

We've all known the result for a week, but aren't allowed to tell anyone :)

It will be good to see the final totals, and to see just how we were evaluated. I think we were all expecting another challenge after the Easter Hamper. Last year's contestents were also evaluated by a secret shopper, which should be interesting to read about.

Refurbished wireless laptop auction this weekend

This weekend, I've got a refurbished wireless IBM ThinkPad laptop on auction.

There will be more refurbs listed next weekend once I've received new batteries for them.

A week of refurbs

Since I started the eBay challenge, I've had quite a few people ask me for 2nd hand laptops. I've spent the last few weeks refurbishing some (which generally involved finding replacement parts, new batteries, and cleaning them up), and have sold five of them in the last 10 days.

This has been quite lucrative, and a good way of drawing traffic to the shop. I now plan on trying to have at least one refurbished laptop listed all the time.

Shop e-mails work

I'm promoting a refurbished IBM ThinkPad R40 this weekend. This is the 3rd time I've listed this particular laptop - the first time it was bought by the world's worst Nigerian scammer, and the second buyer didn't pay then disappeared.

I'm trying a Featured Plus listing this time round, which costs £9.95. As I now have a few names on my shop's mailing list, I sent a promotional mail out offering a discount on the laptop to subscribers.

Lo and behold, the first bid on the laptop came from the e-mail.

3rd time lucky!
