Archive - July 2008 New Shop - under constructionPosted 17-Jul-08 13:11:08 BST Notice: The shop Dean Harkness Artwork is open for business. It is currently under construction and I apologise for the dust, rubble and bad lighting. I hope to have things spruced up soon, so do please keep coming back to see how things progress :-) Hopefully there will be a Grand Opening with free wine and nibbles, and when a date has been set a notice will be posted here. The dress-code will be fancy - either characters from the movies, or tarts and vicars. As a promotional offer anyone who buys an item from my shop will also receive one unit of my undying love absolutely free!* Collect ten units of my love and receive one extra item!** * Terms and conditions may apply ;-) Hello my fellow shop-keepsPosted 17-Jul-08 10:41:02 BST Well it's a cold, wet and windy day, so thank God we can all manage our stores from home! I should be working on a painting today but may find some time to add another item to the shop. I still find the listing process confusing sometimes and am not always sure if my item is visible globally or not, also I'm not sure why one of my items is a private listing - hopefully it doesn't matter and doesn't stop anyone seeing it? Haven't sold a Gia figure for a week or two - Hopefully it's just a glitch and I haven't done something odd? It's a learning curve. Good morning shoppers!Posted 16-Jul-08 10:04:04 BST Have been checking out other sites such as etsy and yessy, which have the advantage of focusing on hand made products. Will stick at using ebay though as it's so big and so well known, and I'm actually startingto get to know it a bit too. Must get some more silicone and get on with some more modelling but it will have to wait a little while as I have at least one painting to finish before starting something new. The Gia figurines keep selling - I think making them a limited edition was a good idea. Haven't sold a green man yet, so maybe it's time I remodelled it. Must produce more drawings too - perhaps a life class is in order! Pushing onPosted 14-Jul-08 10:46:11 BST Got such positive and encouraging responses to this blog that I decided to open up my ebay shop again and give it another go, and for longer this time too. Will spend some of today getting some items uploaded. Also have a commission to work on - a painting of a viking king walking towards a menacing sea - should be fun! Still giving ebay a goPosted 13-Jul-08 15:05:31 BST Opened up an ebay shop a couple of weeks ago but it didn't get any attention so I've closed it for now but may open it up again when I've got more stuff to put there and am ready to spend some money getting it noticed on ebay. In the meantime I haven't managed to sell anything else on ebay other than a Gia a week, which is definately worth doing, though I was hoping for more. Maybe I need to work more at it. I hope it wasn't just that people thought my drawings were over-priced. Have stocked up on art materials recently and am hopeful that this means that some actual work will get produced. |
