Most Recent Posts Circumventing eBay fees.Posted 17-Oct-06 04:49:48 BST I am fighting a losing battle because I am an honest eBay seller, and I pay a lot in eBay fees every month, while many of my competitiors are selling say, a bird cage, for $.01, then shipping on the item is $39.95, just an example. Another example is starting a large Parrot cage at $9.95, the cage costs $90.00 wholesale, I'm sure, they sell it for $9.95, pay FVF for $9.95, and they charge $ 104.99 shipping and handling, which they do not have to pay FVF on. And these sellers are, some of them, Power Sellers. They sell a lot every month, but probably pay about the same as I pay eBay each month, or less. I totally agree with being able to charge a handling fee for items such as boxes that are not free through USPS (Priority Mail), tape, packing materials, labeling, even ink for your printer. But eBay needs to set limits to these handling fees and shipping fees, or, I hate to even mention it because it would hurt everyone, but maybe they need to start charging FVF on shipping also. I would like to hear some suggestions and I would like to know if any of you are experiencing the same type competition. After all, a bird cage for $.01 will get attention quicker than one starting at $16.99, or a Parrot cage selling for $9.95 will get bids quicker than the same cage starting at $95.00, even when they are the exact same cages, and in the end, the buyer is paying basically the same price. It has always been against eBay policy to circumvent eBay fees, and these folks are doing it constantly right under their noses. Someone at eBay has to be seeing it. Someone needs to do something about it. |
