Most Recent Posts What the Heck is a Marx Nutty Mad and more importantly what are you having for dinner?Posted 28-Feb-08 19:10:16 GMT Ahh, the all important question - this post is of course about my Ebay items but I would love you all to share with me what you are doing about dinner - better get started, it has to be on the table in about 4 hours! I am being boring tonight I'm afraid - meatloaf and potatoes with broccoli rabe which I am OBSESSED with right now. My husband usually makes retching noises when he sees it so he gets carrots with his meatloaf. My 5 year old will only eat red, brown or yellow foods so she gets pasta and a multivitamin. So please share with me what exciting dinners you are preparing, I am in a rut! On to my Nutty Mads - If you were a child of the 60's, as I was, you will remember the monster craze. We watched "The Munsters" and "The Addams Family" on TV, we listened to "The Monster Mash", and we collected all kinds of monster figures. Aurora had a whole line of monster model kits, and all the boys and many of the girls in my neighborhood collected "Rat Finks", and the Marx "Weird-Oh's", "Blame-its" and of course "Nutty Mads". The Nutty Mads were 5-6" plastic figures reminiscent of some of the Mad magazine cartoon characters. They were fascinatingly gruesome with huge, bulging eyes, sharp teeth, and bulging bellies. Often they were portrayed bullying some hapless little creature. Monsters are hot with today's kids too, but they are much darker and more realistic, these were monsters with a sense of humor! Nutty Mads were a riot - check 'em out, maybe you remember these and they would make a great conversation piece for your office desk!
