Wonder Why I am Concerned About Ebay's New Feedbay5 Star Ratings?

In all of my auctions, I make it very clear that I do notcharge handling charges.  I charge only EXACT Shipping Charges. 

Yes, I do like Priority Mail, and First ClassInternational Post.

I Do NOT Insist on insuring every item I sell -- onlyspecial, expensive, highly fragile, or TRUE ANTIQUE, RARE items...I ALWAYS Specify thoseitems in the auction listings.

YET, I   DO  NOT  have  a   5   STAR   RATING  For  Shipping.  

As   of   today   my   rating   is   a  4.7   out   of   5.0!

I   think    that   is   TERRIBLE,   Considering the   Following:

I   ALWAYS   REFUND  ... 

I   Repeat....

ALWAYS  REFUND   EXCESS POSTAGE  CHARGES!!!

NOW,  HOW MANY  SELLERS OUT HERE DOTHAT??

If  You   are   a   Seller,  Have  you  ever   refunded   shipping  costs  by  Paypal?  

I have.

and, do on a regular basis. 

I can prove it by showing you & everyone my Paypalaccount history charges.

I have only needed to do that a couple of times, when thebuyer paid by check.  I mailed them -- in a separate envelope my personal check for asmall refund!

I have sent cash, usually less than a dollar back in apackage with the item, if a buyer has overpaid on shipping.

NOW.

I   ASK  YOU.  

WHY???

As   a   Long-Time  Seller  and  Buyer   (since  day  one)  on  Ebay,  I  feel  qualified   to  complain  about  the  policy changes  and  rate  hikes.

I   sell  one-of-a-kind   antiques   and   collectibles.   I   am   a   second-generation   dealer;   I   charge   no   shipping or   handling   fees,   other   than   the   exact   cost   of   mailing   the   items   I sell.   I   ship   internationally,   and have   sold   items   to   individuals   as   well   as   to   museums.   Ebay   has   made   THOUSANDS   of   DOLLARS   from   me.

It   is   a   UNIQUE   Marketplace,   and   at   one   time   was   a   fun   and   exciting   venue.  

But   no   longer.

On   February   12,   2008,   someone,   a   CROOK  --  stole   my   account!   When   I   reported   it   to   Ebay's management  --  and   security   team  --  as advised   on   the   site,   I   received   NO   ASSISTANCE.    Under   the   GUISE   of   protecting   ME,   I   was   not   allowed   to   access   my   account   for   a   solid   week,   causing   me   to   lose   business,   and   credibility   with   my   existing   customers   (I   had   over   40   auctions   listed   at   that time.)   I   wrote   letters,   emails   and   called   during   that   frustrating   week   trying   to gain   access   to   MY ACCOUNT   to   NO   AVAIL.

During   that   time,   an   Ebay   customer   service   rep   removed   my   Power   Seller   Status!

When   I   finally   was   given   access   to   my   account   again   on   February   20,   the   first   thing   I   did   was CLOSE   MY   STORE.

The   second   thing   I   did   was   JOIN   the   BOYCOTT!

Can   You   Understand   WHY??

Ebay   Management   doesn't   care   how   they   get   their   money,   who   brings   them   their   money,
only   that   they   have   money!

Prior   to   getting   my   master's   degree   in   social   work,   I   was   a   buyer   for   a   major   department   store,and   then   a   sales   representative   for   a   nationally-known   jewelry   company   for   ten   years.   I   have   had plenty   of   experience   with    corporate   greed.

Ebay's   management   has    exhibited   corporate    greed    to   the   ultimate  degree   when   they   pay  no attention   to   our   failing   economy   yet   they   hike   final   value   fees   under   the   guise   of   lowering  listing   costs.   I   guess   they   must   think   we   sellers   are   dumb   and   cannot   see   through   their   lies.

And   as   to   their   feedback   policy   changes:   Not   allowing   sellers   to   leave   Non-paying   bidders NEGATIVE   feedback   comments   is   absurd!   This   is   an   auction   venue.   We   must   have   some   recourse.   We cannot   allow   someone   to  bid   up  an   item   and   then   change   their   minds   at   the   last   minute--An  Auction   is   a   Business   Contract!

Please.
Are   they   (Ebay's management)   attempting   to   rewrite   definitions  (auction terms)?

I   do   not   think   that   the   folks   who  made   these   changes   took   into   consideration   all   the ramifications   of   these   policy   changes.

Nor   do   I   think   they   realized   HOW   MANY   people's   Livelihoods   they   would   be  

affecting!

Dear Mr. Donahoe,

As an ebay buyer and sellerof over ten years, I can tell you that I am sick with the way that I have been treated inthe past couple of days.

 My account,classic_chloe was hijacked—fraudulently taken over on February 11, 2008.  Fortunately, I noticed it immediately.  I contacted live help, and we were able to put astop to it.  I was told the investigation teamwas on it, and the legal authorities would be called.

Then I was giveninstructions as to how to change my sign-in password.  (By the way, I had just changed it in January.  The one that was stolen was ======…Interesting, huh?)  After 3 attempts, I was given a Temporary Password.  That didn’t work either.  There was a glitch of some sort that just didn’tallow me to sign in securely.  Something justdidn’t work, John!  Anyway... So the livehelp person then asked me for something that I just could not remember.  Her name was June.  She asked, “What was your email address when you first became a memberof ebay?”  Now, I tell you.  That was over ten years ago!  I have an illness that affects my memory.  I explained that to her.  I told her I thought it was something like ========.  Shesaid, “No, that isn’t it.”

Her chat became very cold.  I could actually sense it.  She then told me that I would have to fax copies ofmy Virginia Driver’s license, utility bills, power seller status and moreinformation, which prove that I am who I say I am to the Fraud Take Over Unit in Draper,Utah before I could access my account again!  And,that my account would be suspended until that time!

Well, let me tell you, thisnews did not sit right with me!  I have an ebaystore!  I also have 40-some auctions listed,and a Paypal account which is tied to my ebay account!  This is my livelihood!  And to betold that I cannot access my account due to no fault of my own is NOT Right!

So yesterday, February 12,2008, I went to my bank to fax the information requested to the Ebay Fraud Take OverDepartment.  My bank manager attempted to dothis for over 30 minutes of her time.  Andguess what?  It could not go through!  There was a problem with YOUR Fax line!  This wasted MY time, MY husband’s time, and MYBank Manager’s time!

So, I ended up MAILING allof that information to the address that I was given—and I am hoping that it was aCorrect address—

And I even included the faxcover sheet which proves that I attempted to fax it, but it FAILED!

Since all of this happened,my POWER SELLER STATUS has been taken away!

Ebay has made Thousands ofDollars from me over the years.  Thousands!

I have been treated like aCRIMINAL, when in fact, I am the VICTIM.  As aMaster’s Degree of Social Work holder, I really feel disgusted by this entiresituation, and feel that ebay has really crossed the line this time!

There should have been abetter way to have handled this situation.  Yourlong-time ebay sellers DESERVE Better Treatment!  Weearn better treatment!

Will you PLEASE look intothis…MY situation, and get back to me?
