Fake Ebay emails

fake emails

It blows me away that I am getting more and more fake ebay emails. They are spam and spam-scam emails about items won, that I never even bid on. Does anyone else have this issue? Is there anything I can do to stop it? Have a great day!! Cat

We receive many, many such emails everyday. Every single one is immediately forwarded to spoof@paypal.com or spoof@ebay.com as applicable. They get the linked-to web site shuut down.

Yes, I get them too and send them to spoof@ebay.com. Go to this link to see how to handle this kind of email. http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/spoof-email.html . Just another comment: If it isn't in your "MESSAGE" folder, it probably didn't actually come from eBay. BB

I report those emails frequently. They always turn out to be fraudulent. Be careful and only read your eBay emails from your MY EBAY page.

Unfortunately phishing is a big part of the scamming industry. The only way to trust messages from eBay is to look at Inbox folder in Messages on My Ebay page.

If it doesn't go to your eBay email, it's spam or a scam ... delete it without opening it. I would do the following:

1) EBay has a procedure to follow - do what they ask, forward it to them.
2) Check your eBay mail first, before opening anything eBay in your personal mail.

Yeah, I get a lot of that stuff too ... but I forward it to eBay and never open it in personal mail.

I have received many of these. BEFORE you open any ebay related email in your personal email check your ebay messages. If it is not there then it is spoof or scam. Forward it to spoof@ebay.com with the full headers. They work very well to get these shut down. I am looking for a way to forward these emails to ebay WITHOUT having to open them. If anyone knows how to do this please let me know. It would be nice to not have to check each one and have to open it then forward it. I thought about setting up a rule in my email to automatically forward it to spoof but I get legitimate emails to.

The best thing I found to do with these " fake" emails is I first mark and report them as spam with like spoof@ebay.com, then with my email provider { ie.. Yahoo, Hotmail.etc...} and last I report the IP Address to the Attourny Generals Offices. They have special programs to help find and stop these things. {due to the many of them comming in from out of country} I hope this helps!!!

Yes, I receive alot of these emails too. In addition to forwarding the email to spoof@ebay.com and spoof@paypal.com, I also copy and paste the email header in the forwarded mail. Happy 4th!

I get them all the time... and just forward them right on to spoof@ebay.com. Of course ebay doesn't explain how these people are getting our info... I get them occasionally from Paypal too: saying I have purchased something-usually a high ticket electronic and with a shipping name and address that isn't even close to mine. Hackers can find out whatever they want I guess...

We get plenty of scam e-mails -

Sharing the same story as, the e-mails ask us to send their item that they won. We also get e-mails that "look" like they are from e-bay. When you click on those e-mail links, it takes you to a site that looks identical to e-bay. At that point, the site asks you for your screen name and password...BAD MOVE. As e-bay says, check your e-bay e-mail first. If that same e-mail is not in your e-bay inbox...you have been hoaxed. If you have clicked on that link, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY! In addition, I was advised that your e-bay password and paypal password should be different for extra protection. Stay awake - these jerks are everywhere!

If you want to have fun and make money on eBay there's something you can do.

Tell the Board of Directors what you need and want.

The comment section on this link is for them to read.

They WANT to know about your problem.

Pass it on!
