Halischaks Attic

Halischaks Attic has been transformed into more than just an attic over the past few months.
We started out with items from our parents and collections of our own to estate sale items and hobby shop stock.
Starting with stamps and baseball cards we entered our inventory slowly but surely.
We filled up the store with stamps, cards, figurines, home decor, and more.
Now we have model trains from "n scale" to "g scale." We purchased the inventory of a starving hobby shop. The attic was full of trains, models, games, and more.
Recently we attended the eBay Live convention in Chicago. We learned a lot about customers concerns and desires.
We now have an inventory that is very diversified. We sell tons of vintage jewelry. We have moved on to Precious Moments figurines and large stamp lot sales.
We have everything from Matchbox trucks to Lionel train cars. We even have unusual items like animal skulls, vintage nasal sprayers, mounted animal heads, and much more weird stuff.
We are very proud of our jewelry collections. We have so much to choose from, it's impossible to mention in a single blog.
The attic has turned into a warehouse.
We have decided after a lot of thought and planning to go to FREE SHIPPING on a lot of our inventory.
Come visit the newly remodeled Halischaks Attic and be amazed.

VINTAGE PYSANKY EGGS

VINTAGE PYSANKY EGGS HANDPAINTED BY OHIO ARTIST, (THE LATE) EVA RASIC.

The Pysanky style of egg painting was created by the mountain people in the Ukraine area. The style became famous for its beautifully rendered Easter eggs, but has also been applauded for the decorative Christmas ornaments that these eggs can be used for.

Our collection comes from local artist, Eva Rasic, by way of "George's Attic."  My father, George Halischak, and my mother, Anna Mae Halischak, were friends of the late Mrs. Rasic.  When my parents passed away, their collection of Eva's trademark eggs became my own.

"Tear-dropping" is an old method of Pysanky done by using a pencil with the eraser tip, a flat-head pin, and melted candle wax. Eva patiently painted her eggs using this traditional, time-consuming method.  Her patience was rewarded with some of the most beautiful Pysanky eggs--most of them in Traditional style, but some in her own unique style of painting.

Symbolizing the female principles of wisdom, elegance, and beauty along with Christian symbolism.

All of the eggs in our collection are at least 35 to 50 years old. I'm 51 years old and my mother displayed these eggs back when I was 10 and younger. Some of the dye is starting to fade over the years, but that is the magic of vintage eggs. They still look great after all these years.

Mrs. Rasic was a very well known local artist also known for her pictures done with charcoal and razor blades. She will be deeply missed by our family and many others.

Browse our store and see for yourself the beauty of Pysanky Egg Painting.

Thank you so much for your time

FREE SHIPPING!

Hello eBay Shoppers and Friends!
Mark and I attended eBay Live 2008 in Chicago. It was an enjoyable and eye-opening experience. We discussed our present sales strategies and looked hard at what we could do to improve our store and our customer service. The suggestion that stood out from the rest concerned shipping.
Together, we decided to follow the eBay PowerSeller recommendations and revise most of our listings to reflect "Free Shipping."
It will take a while to get all of our listings changed, but over the next few weeks you will notice free shipping in:

  • Vintage Rings
  • Precious Moments figurines
  • O scale Trains
  •  G scale Trains
  • HO scale Trains
  • N scale trains
  • US Stamps
  • Collector Plates
  • Pysanki Decorative Eggs
  • Stripper Shoes
  • Thigh High Boots
  • Home Decor
  • And More!
Of course, FREE shipping applies only to our U.S. customers. We are offering DISCOUNTED shipping for International orders to reflect an equal savings.
It's going to be a challenge, but as the eBay community changes, we need to adapt and change with it.
Thank you for listening to this ramble...

Have a great 4th of July!
Best Regards--
Annette and Mark

Update

Hi!

Halischak's Attic is getting a new look. We have redesigned our pages and added MyStoreMaps to our listings. The maps will show all the places we have shipped to since January 1, 2008. It's kind of fun to see our sales grow in a map format.
Mark and I have been adding more 0, H0, and N scale trains to our "Attic" on a fairly regular basis. We are trying to buy a big enough home to enable us to set up our own H0 scale train layout. Right now, all we can do is plan.
We ended our women's clothing line except for fashion boots and platform "stripper" shoes. These items are a favorite of mine since I am 5'2" without shoes!
I started this blog as sort of an Online eBay diary. Mark and I will add to it from time to time and we hope you will come back often to see how we're doing.

Best Regards--
Annette and Mark
