A cry for Help eBay Members Please help make a difference.

Hi Everyone,

Can you please look at the below message I recieved today and help this mum save what very little provision we have for our children by signing her petition.

In the UK there are over 500,000 ++++ children with autism & a lot of them have serious communication difficulties. Speech and  language Therapy (SALT)  provision provided by the state is seriously lacking (my own 14 year old has only seen a SALT 3 times in her whole life, and she has serious communication difficulties, (she can't talk or sign), the excuse given to us for not providing our dd with SALT service is there isn't one available!

Now in a few counties, previously forward thinking LEAs start Language Units, basically these units are run by staff in Speech and language, they were a short gap for the lack of SALTs, for the children who have been lucky enough to attend these units, they were getting the SALT provision they needed, but now LEAs are closing these down, removing the very little provision there is.

The children instead of attending these units will now be placed in mainstream schools , where there will be very little or no SALT provision, and the teachers will not have time to spend on a child who can't communicate.

If you too, like me are worried about the consequences of placing children with communication difficulties in mainstream school, please read below and sign the petition. Please help make a difference, the more people we can get to voice their concerns the better chance we have of helping this mum save the provision in her area.

PLEASE PLEASE COULD YOU HELP US, OUR LOCAL LEA IS TRYING TO CLOSE DOWN TWO OF OUR LOCAL SPECIAL NEEDS PRE SCHOOLS WHO SPECIALISE IN SPEECH AND LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATIONAL DIFFICULITIES, MY OWN SON WHO HAS AUTISM ATTENDED ONE OF SAID PRE SCHOOLS SO I KNOW FULL WELL THE BENEFITS OF HAVING THESE PRE SCHOOLS OPEN. THE LEA'S DEFENSE FOR CLOSING THESE PRE SCHOOLS DOWN IS THAT THESE CHILDREN WILL BE PROVIDED FOR IN MAIN STREAM SETTINGS BUT AS ANYONE WITH AN AUTISTIC CHILD WILL KNOW THAT DOESNT ALWAYS WORK AND OUR CONCERN IS WHAT HAPPENS TO THE CHILDREN THAT IT DOESNT WORK FOR? WE HAVE SET UP AN E PETITION AT
