Thanks for visiting!

Thanks to all who visited. Just thinking about creativity, and how it is, for me, an answer to the absurdity the world presents.  Though we can't always change things, i.e. making warring people "turn their swords into plowshares," we can add weight to the positive side of the scale through creative acts. This is a major reason for doing things like good deeds, prayer, creative work, teaching and healing.  When others search through the rubble of the ruins of our society on some far distant date, they may find, besides the remains of instruments of war, and hopefully outnumbering them, glorious works of art and other signs that there were always those who had hope and a dream---builders and creators far outnumbering those who took delight in destruction.  This is my hope anyway.  One day, I created a painting called "They Honor the God of War."  It was one of two of my paintings that appeared in our museum's regional show.  Many were moved by it, finding it spoke to them powerfully.  Many times, we can't say all we wish we could in words.  Color, line and form may speak more powerfully when words fail.  Be well, do good work.  Please visit again.

Thanks for your visit

Thanks for visiting my blog.   Yes, I will have some images of my work for you to see, probably by the end of the weekend.  I have some major writing assignments to dig into---and a lot of snow to dig out of, so it may take me a while to post images.  Still reeling from the absurdity of the murders in Pakistan.  When will people see that killing is not a solution?  It's hard to go to the studio and paint, or write when these things  are happening, yet that is really the best answer to those who destroy---to create---passionately---to celebrate all that life is.  This is what gives meaning to being here on this planet at this amazing time.  This is what will be left behind after those who kill join those they have killed.  How do the rest of you deal with such things?  Does the craziness stop you in your tracks, or impell you to create?  Let's talk!

Welcome to my new art blog!

This is my first entry in my very first blog---and it's all about art---making it, selling it, living our passion and prospering.  I'd love to hear from you about how you are making it happen too!  It's my goal to totally divorce the term "starving" from the word "artist" and I'm sure that's your goal too!  Write and let me know how you are making it happen for you.

I live in a beautiful rural area, with seasonal population increases due to the return of summer residents and tourists. Snow is falling outside my window as I write this.  I'm waiting for my first piano student of the afternoon, planning to list some of my paintings on Ebay today, and being really excited about a new auction search tool I just found out about.  It's called the  "shopping genie."  It's a free download that will bring up all the Ebay items you're searching for instantly on your computer just by typing in your search term and you will immediately know what's for sale and what it costs.  You can get it for free by going to http://www.myshoppinggenie.com/easysearch  We really love it and know you will too!  Let me know what you think of it.  It's made our searches so fast and easy that I wouldn't be without it.

I hope to have some good sales on Ebay, and really like that it's become such a community and less anonymous than I thought it would be.  Being a painter keeps me rather isolated a lot of the time and the work of getting my work out into the world is not my favorite thing.  I like solitude and silence and have trouble with the sales aspect---I really miss my paintings when they're gone.  It seems that today, you have to be good at it all: doing the work, marketing and networking, shipping and handling, public relations and education!  All of it!  And I just want to paint!   Have any of you found ways to reconcile all this?  Let me know.  Let's talk!
